![]() ![]() ![]() These now-deleted cosplay posts were "low-res and dimly lit." ĭelphine has a boyfriend, who often works on the photography of her modeling content and likes to remain anonymous. Delphine also began posting pictures of her cosplay onto her Facebook account, which was later deleted. After dropping out, she found work as a waitress, nanny, and barista. Around this time, she was treated for depression. Now in Hampshire, she attended Priestlands School, but dropped out at the age of fourteen, due to being bullied online. After her parents divorced, she moved to Lymington, England with her mother. She experienced a devout Christian family upbringing. There is plenty of celebration of women "who make the world a better place." It is possible to admire both Cardio B and Susan B Anthony at the same time, you know.Mary-Belle Kirschner (born 23 October 1999), better known online as Belle Delphine, is a South African-born English model and Internet celebrity, 'porn star', and YouTuber.ĭelphine was born on 23 October 1999 in South Africa, and was raised in Cape Town. And even if they are, she's one of billions of women who do the same thing currently, and I think that speaks to current internet culture rather than Belle's character. ![]() She is clearly all done up in costume and I doubt anyone is under the illusion that she wakes up looking like that. She comes up with brilliant and innovative ways to market herself and has pretty much been the trailblazer other "e-girls."Īs for using makeup and filters.that's not a crime, imo. And she built her business entirely on her own, with no guidance. Maybe other women will see what she does and start to feel a little bit more comfortable with enjoying their own bodies and others, free of shame. The fact that Belle not only embraced her sexuality despite the stigma, but found a way to monetize it and troll/ take advantage of the very same creeps that normally pray on us is fucking cool. Being openly and overtly sexual as a woman takes guts, as you probably already know. I'd love to watch some documentaries about this topic if you have any suggestions!īecause there is a long, long history, perhaps since the beginning of human civilization, of society ruthlessly shaming (and even in some cases torturing and killing) women for enjoying their own sexuality. The issues that I was talking about are much more broad than something like Onlyfans, which again, I do not have a problem or issue with at all. I do not think that sex work is wrong and I am supportive of anyone who wants to go down that career path. I am not blaming sex workers for anything, or even preaching that they are wrong. I do not think that the characteristics of Japanese culture/society that I mentioned were caused by sex workers. It feels like people are reading my comment as if I am against Onlyfans or sex work in general, which couldn't be further from the truth. I am certain that it's extremely difficult to become successful on Onlyfans and that it's highly competitive. My comment was more about the allure of Onlyfans and larger societal/cultural shifts that I think Onlyfans is a part of. I never said that it was easy - in fact I believe just the opposite. There are entire firms in Japan whose sole business is to rent a family, and I think Onlyfans has the potential to evolve into something akin to that. More disconnection, more reclusion, more time spent online, etc. I think places like Japan are already ahead of the curve in this area and is a sign of what's to come in Western society as well. However, I do think that the popularity of Onlyfans is result of an ever increasingly disconnected society that seems to have a tendency to try and digitize and monetize the things that make are supposed to bring us closer: sex, friendships, love, family. I would even go as far as to say that someone like Belle Delphine is a kind of artist. I don't think Onlyfans is an issue at all, and I support anyone who enjoys doing it. Going hundreds of thousands of dollars into debt to go to law school and working very hard to pay off that debt becomes a lot less appealing, when you could go into zero debt and make thousands to millions of dollars a year on Onlyfans. What I think is sad and potentially dangerous is how difficult it's going to be to convince young women to do and pursue other careers when they could be making much more money, much more easily, from their bedroom.
